Our car anthems as children were a pretty much straight split between Hooked on Classics and my Dad's country selection. I thought Don Williams was about the most depressing man I'd ever heard sing but Ms Wynette was always fun and I just loved Johnny Cash's "A boy named Sue".
Having been infused with country from such and early age, I was keen not to miss Walk the Line and seeing it last night I wasn't disappointed. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon both acted superbly and sang even better.
Having watched the film and seen the love between Johnny and June it reminded me of a video I'd seen a couple of years earlier. The video was that of "Hurt" which was made just after June died and not long before Johnny went. Even without knowing anything about their story together I found it very moving. Having watched the movie it only pulls harder at the heart strings.
If you've seen Walk the Line, or even if you haven't, take a moment to watch it, it's well worth the distraction.
